Holiday Spirit

One of the large seasonal stores downtown transforms into a winter wonderland during the holiday season. There are many individual displays of holiday villages that belong to residents of Juneau. Within the displays are hidden little figurines and there are scavenger hunt pages as you walk in. We hunted for Sesame Street characters, Simpsons characters and even snowmen.  The governor hosted an open house with cookies and musical performances from the school bands and choirs.   Mady wanted to wrap the presents this year. She did a great job.  A neighbor brought us a cookie plate with some of these adorable mice.  A few different views along Sandy Beach while Zachary was at hockey practice. Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance.   We let the pumpkins outside. No bears, only porcupines snacked on them.   Discovery Southeast led field trip along the Mendenhall River. The kids are making living tableaus of erosion.   After being invited to the high school commons for lunch, the field trip continued at the public library.   Alex receiving his 1st quarter Honor Roll certificate.   Zachary receiving his 1st quarter Honor Roll certificate.   Full moon peeking over the mountain.   Mossy trees.   First snowfall.   And the first snowman.   We tried to hike the Flume Trail. It starts just up the hill in our neighborhood.   But, the trail was washed out.   Another 2nd grade field trip. This time to the Alaska State Museum.   I met Zachary's class at the glacier for their field trip.
