New Schools for Everyone

We wouldn't forget our end of summer sundae dinner.  Mady can walk to school, we can see part of the building from the deck.  The boys take the school bus, a new experience for them.  Caesar enjoying some quiet down time.

Welcome to the North

Hello again! The purpose of this page will be to record our adventures in Alaska. We left California (and our Lemon Tree) on July 27, 2019 and arrived in Juneau, Alaska on August 12, 2019.  My intent is to mainly post pictures and not as many words. Possibly a post will cover the month, or maybe not. It's a thought in progress.  However it turns out, I hope you will enjoy an inside view of life in Alaska.

Back on Track

The AMH ferry strike was finally resolved and we are on our way again.  Mady and I decided to walk on to the ferry. Hours later, the boys drove the car on to the ferry.  We had two cabins on board, next door to each other.  Our longest port call was Ketchikan. We walked from the ferry terminal to get breakfast and coffee.  The Ketchikan airport is across the channel from the main city. If you miss the ferry, you miss your flight. Caesar Cat was confined to the car during the 3 day trip. Every 8 hours or so we were allowed to go to the car deck to check on him. Phil let Caesar walk around the car deck, which Caesar enjoyed.  A small boat with unexperienced boaters was swamped by our wake. The lifeboat was deployed to aid in the rescue efforts.  3 days later, we arrived in Juneau and were able to see our new house for the first time.  The tall building in the background is the Federal Building where Phil works. Adventures in Washington

Phil flew from Juneau to SeaTac to join us for the last leg of our journey north. Unfortunately the Alaska Marine Highway system went on strike and our travel was put on hold. To fill the time, we went on a few mini adventures. First up, a surprise trip to Great Wolf Lodge. A tour of Pike Place Market followed.  The original Starbucks.  Northwest Trek, and a glimpse of a moose. Hopefully a sign of moose to come!  Amazing slide at Point Defiance.  Sushi belt madness!  S'mores on the deck.
